Special projects require special attention. Such is the case with the Pinnacle Bank Arena. Though it constitutes only a portion of the overarching West Haymarket Redevelopment Project, the arena has garnered a large majority of public interest and attention. To help ensure that this significant facet of the project comes together without a hitch, the West Haymarket JPA has chosen to utilize the services of an arena project manager.

Paula Yancey, President/Owner of PC Sports of San Antonio, Texas, is serving the role of Pinnacle Bank Arena Project Manager within the SAIC/Benham team. An experienced professional with over 18 years of project management experience, Yancey is responsible for assisting the West Haymarket JPA and SAIC in the process of coordinating and supervising all components of the Pinnacle Bank Arena’s construction and development.

Headquartered in San Antonio, PC Sports is an owner’s representative project management firm specializing in the management and oversight of modern sports and entertainment venues over the course of their construction and development process. A subsidiary of Project Control, a project consulting firm based in San Antonio, PC Sports’ catalog of previous work includes the FedExForumin Memphis, Tennessee, the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri and the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

Prior to joining the Pinnacle Bank Arena project, Yancey most recently oversaw the construction and development of the KFC YUM! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. While on the project, Yancey had the opportunity to work directly with Mortenson Construction, the West Haymarket project’s Construction Manager-At-Risk. “The great thing about it is there will be no learning curve. We don’t have to spend a lot of time getting to know each other…it speeds up the process. They know what I expect and I know how they operate. They have a really great safety program and have a lot of great processes in place…they’re an excellent company and we have a really good working relationship.”

“Lincoln’s arena will be a fantastic facility. They were able to incorporate a lot of the best features from some of the best buildings out there. It should make for a terrific fan experience. The sightlines are going to be awesome…we’re building a top-of-the-line facility for the city of Lincoln. It’s going to be on par with the best. Plus, the location is wonderful. Arena spectators will be able to hang out and have a meal or a drink…it will be an excellent fan environment.”

Even though Yancey arrived in Lincoln only a short time ago, she has hit the ground running. “I have been in lots and lots of meetings. We’ve been working on completing the schematic design for the architects [which have since been approved], working with Mortenson on getting all the pricing for estimates as well as trying to look forward to the next steps so we can effectively handle things coming up in the summer…we’re focused on doing what needs to be done so that we can break ground in September.”

Helpful and outgoing, Paula is committed to assisting HaymarketNOW! with any questions that we may encounter over the course of the project. Thus, if you have any questions for Paula Yancey concerning her role as arena project manager, please email us at info@haymarketnow.com.
